Chapter 3.2

No! YOU did!” Jeena shouted, “You read my mind!”

“Now, now,” Amaya said incredulously, “She did not read your mind! You were merely talking!”

“Talking?” Morticia was confused.

“If you would only allow me explain, things would be a bit clearer.” Amaya said matter-of-factly. “As I have already told you, I am Amaya, your guardian. It is my duty to help you, in whichever way I can, in your search for The Test and during The Test.”

“What test?” Jeena interrupted.

“May I please” Amaya snapped, “finish before answering your questions? I would immensely appreciate that. Now, every Earth year Thisa, the Soul of Eternity, chooses a new-born girl and at her fifteenth birthday, she is put to test. She must first find out what she must do as a test, using the clue that she is given; and then complete the task in order to become a Thisian. Every girl is assigned a guardian to guide her and inform her.

“On the day of her fifteenth birthday, she is gifted with Thisian abilities - or in colloquial language, ‘Special Powers’. If she manages to accomplish her task; she becomes a Thisian and undergoes training under her guardian. A Thisian is trained to use her abilities to the fullest and then help maintain balance in the universe.”

Amaya paused and looked expectantly at the two girls who stared back at her.

“What?” both of them said together.

“I see that you have not understood.” Amaya said slowly.

I bet you, we didn’t.

“Every Earth year,” Amaya said “a star appears in the sky at night that no one can see. The star appears exactly above one new-born girl. This is called ‘The Choice’; and this star is no one else but Thisa herself. Thisa is the Soul of Eternity.

“When this new born girl completes fifteen Earth years of her life, she is put through a test. She is given a clue so as to help her find out what her test will be. Then she must complete the test. If she is successful, she becomes a Thisian. Once she becomes a Thisian, it becomes her duty to maintain a balance of power and energy in the universe. She no longer remains a human being. Her life inevitably changes…but that does not concern you right now; right now you must know about Thisa and Thisians only in general so you know what force one is going to be a part of if one succeeds. But if she fails; then time on Earth goes back and she lives on as a human without a clue of who she could have been.”

“Okay…” Morticia said not knowing how else to respond.

Tell me, why would I even care about some Thisa or Thisian or whatever it is she is going on about?

“THAT” Amaya roared, “would be because you are OBVIOUSLY related to all of this!”

“Whoa!” Morticia said, apparently, not scared at all. Jeena wondered how Morticia could be so calm when some weirdly dressed lady had

just shouted at her. “You can read our minds too? And what do you mean by ‘you’re related to all this’? Do you mean that Jeena is a Thisian and she was ‘chosen’ at her birth?” Jeena’s heart started beating a million times a minute. What if she was a Thisian?

“No.” Amaya replied, smiling. Jeena was relieved and her heart started to beat normally again when Amaya added “You both are” to make Jeena’s heart beat a lot more than just a million per minute, not to mention Morticia’s.

“But you said that the star appeared above only one girl!” Jeena said.

“Yes,” Amaya said, “But sometimes she chooses two girls. Before the two of you the twins were Trisha and Timothy. They failed unfortunately. They were really nice though. I was their guardian. And before them it was Paula and Lilly. They completed their task so finely. Rebb is their guardian. I don’t know Rebb all that well, but she is a lovely person. Paula and Lilly were the first twins and we were all surprised…”
