Love Story

Once upon a time there was a boy, an engineering student. In college, he always was miles away from love or even girls. He just didn't bother to even talk to girls. Once he passed out, he was placed in a company in a different town.

On the first day at job, all the new joinees gathered at a conference hall. Among the new joinees was a beautiful girl, an angel of sorts. And needless to say, this time the boy just could not remove his eyes away from her! The first fortnight was allotted for training. All the new joinees trained together, developing an excellent cameraderie among them.

Gradually, the boy came to know about the girl. He was most impressed by her simplicity and her true nature. The girl was an encompassing dancer, and as the boy later found out, he had never seen a better dancer. She was also a great singer, with a very sweet voice. And the list went on and on. She was a fine painter, and was pretty intelligent too.

At a friend's birthday party, the new joinees played a game. Each one of them was required to tell his/her first reaction when he/she saw each one of them for the first time. All narrated their first experiences. When it was the turn of the boy to say about the girl, this was all he could manage," I have never seen a more beautiful girl"!!

As the days passed by, the boy did not know when he had started loving her. The boy never talked to her in office, very seldom would one find him talking infact. After a few months, the new joinees were taken for an outbound trip. They enjoyed it thoroughly. On the last evening, the joinees were required to perform cultural programmes. And guess what!! The girl unfolded an impeccable dance performance, leaving the boy breathless. And she backed it up with a spectacular song. After the event, they all returned by bus to their respective homes. The boy was sitting beside her. That was the moment… it was then that he decided that he wanted to spend his life with her…

But here came the twist in the tale. When the boy proposed to her, she refused. But she said something which made the boy realize she somehow did not hate him. Somehow she liked him... maybe…

Days passed. Gradually they both again started to talk quite often. And on one fine night, the girl told everything… about her compulsions… actually, her parents wanted to marry her to an IAS officer. And they were searching for one. They had also talked to a few parties but the girl didn't want to commit so soon. She was just 21. And what more, she didn't want to marry an IAS officer.

The boy loved her so much that he was ready to put his career at stake for her. He decided to relinquish the idea of doing an MBA. He started preparing for IAS exam. The girl told everything to her parents and also said she would marry the boy if he competes for IAS. But her parents said they would not wait for the boy and continued to look for another match elsewhere.

Unfazed by this, the boy continued his preparation… and each night... while the boy studied, he would get the sweetest sms from the girl, which read," study well… good night…". And after reading this, the boy would be rejuvenated with a new energy. He started studying day in and out… and what happens finally is yet to be seen….
