Love At First Sight………came, Saw And Conquered

My best friend Anita who was in school with me and I talked over the phone every single day for hours. Someone was always bothering her when she was talking to me. It was her brother Val, who was a year older to her. He was funny I would always laugh at his jokes. Then suddenly instead of talking to Anita on the phone I would talk to Val. I have no idea what he did to me but I fell in love with him. Everyday my feelings for him grew more! He was the first person I was truly in love with. Anita invited me for her birthday to her house. That was the first time I ever saw him and met him. I would never forget that day. First he was really shy and he wouldn't come out of his room. Then after 3 hours being there for the birthday party, I noticed that Val was a warm young guy who would make passes at me and get into our conversation. There at the party I found that Val was a very warm and caring guy. I remember the first time I saw Val to his eyes, then I went up to him and looked at his face then he looked at mine and we just stared. I stood still as my heart began pacing at abnormal speeds. I looked into her eyes and saw eternity. His hair was as dark as the darkest hour in the night. His face was as beautiful as the moonlit sky. His eyes were a deep brown, as deep as the oceans deepest water, holding within them secret wonders unknown. It was as if I had stepped into heaven and seen its first angel.

Supposedly Anita never told him but I am sure she did, that I liked Val at the first instance. Well anyways the next few days we didn't talk about anything except Val. She would tell me that he was always talking about me to his mom and dad. Anita also shared with me how after the party was over, he tried opening my gift for her and liked the gift that I had bought for her. I believe he told them at home that I was a very compassionate and kind young girl…..Now, I knew that he liked me and when I disclosed this to my parents, my Dad immediately called for him and had a formal proposal and things were settled between the two families. Soon thereafter I along with my parents were invited to Val's house and things were again cemented there and our love was sealed. Val took me out for dinner and he sat in front of me and I was just staring at him and smiling. I loved his brown eyes, they were so beautiful. At the end of the dinner he held my hand and said to me "You came, you saw and you conquered"!!!!! Yes, I went to his place and saw him and immediately conquered him…wasn't this wonderful and romantic, then?????

Now Val was the most important thing of my life. That every time I would wake up he was the first thing on my mind. That my lips would touch his. That his arms would be around my waist. That I could tell him how much I love him and he would tell me he loves me too. I used to wait to meet him, as he was busy at work and he did make time to see me at least once a day after his working hours.

Well, I would like to share something that happened the following week that we had met with our parents. That was the best day of my life, I swear. Anita and I planned to go for a movie and she told me she needed to go to the washroom. She went by herself and as she was taking a long time I decided I would go look out for her. Then when I was about to get up I see Val walking towards me. I couldn't believe it…….my heart was beating so fast. It sounded like it was gonna get out my chest. He sat next to me and I loved him all the more for pulling such surprises for me. After the movie we went to the park and he grabbed my hand. I just stared at him and asked him what was going on. Then he leaned in and kissed my lips. I will never forget that kiss. My first kiss with him, the first time I ever touched his lips. It was the best kiss ever! Then he told me how much he loved me too. He told me that feeling was the strongest feeling he had ever felt. He would bring me flowers almost every week. He was always there for me. When my Dad died he was the only one there for me. He told me that even though my Dad wasn't with me anymore I could always count on him on for anything. I was so sad those days I just couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to die but then I just thought about Val and my whole world turned around. He respected me in every aspect.

Then on a Valentine Day, he took me to the park where a year before we had been together, where we first kissed. This time he wanted to ask me something else, something that would change our lives forever. We sat down on the lawn, he looked in my eyes and told me he loved me and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Then he asked me if I loved him. I said yes that he was my everything and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him too. He hugged me, then he took something out of his pocket, it was a little red box. He got on his knees and asked me, "Do you want to be my wife??" I said yes and hugged him then he slipped the ring into my finger. Well, soon after that we got married and it was blissful from there onwards till today. Blessed with two young boys.

Thankfully, I can tell you that I experienced heavenly love, so, today, I obliged to you for letting me tell you about my LOVE, the lasting kind. As years have passed and we are still in love today, I visualize as one day we grow old together the day where we promised to love each other forever, through sickness and health, until death would eventually part them. We cared for each other through lean years and good ones while together we made an ordinary house into a home full of love as we shared trials and perhaps even some hardships. Like most couples we probably lived through some large arguments and small disagreements but we survived it all together….till date….and we kept our promise to God to love and honour each other. To me, that is what true love is all about.

Words here are not the limit to what I feel about my Val, he being in my life makes me live in his life to make the best time of our lives. If ever Val promises to get me the stars and the moon, I'd refuse and just settle for his heart instead. Why risk his life in the skies when the essence of my world and the destiny of my life is steered by the love in Val's heart? Isn't this true?

Val is so special to me because he brightens up my day, he's special as well because he's so optimistic and cheerful and his laugh and definitely contagious.
